INSURE

Innovative Sustainable Remediation

The INSURE project

INSURE is a four year Interreg Central Baltic project that was running from 2015-2019. The project was a cooperation between partners from Sweden, Finland and Latvia.

INSURE has worked to make the remediation of contaminated sites more frequent and sustainable. During the project pilot areas were investigated and tested for the function of sustainable remediation alternatives.

INSURE has also worked with management methods such as supervision to create a more efficient handling of contaminated sites and thereby an increased remediation rate. Technical tools for better prioritisation and visualisation such as GIS, models and databases were developed within the project to support the work with contaminated sites.

The total budget for the project was 2 423 009 Euro and the EU subsidy (ERDF) is 1 877 434 Euro.
